Fees
How fees work
How paying for therapy works here, in the order people tend to ask.
Insurance we work with
Dr. Wynn is out of network, so Whisper Therapy does not bill your insurance plan, and that includes Medicare and Medi-Cal. Some plans pay back part of the cost of out-of-network care. Your plan decides how much, if anything.
Some PPO and POS plans reimburse out-of-network care
HSA and FSA cards are accepted
If you pay yourself
You pay for each session on the day. Your fee is set out in writing before you begin, so there is nothing to ask about at the door. A limited number of reduced-fee places may be open; you can ask when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. A later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session.
Receipts for reimbursement
At the end of each month you get an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to send to your plan if you want to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Whether it pays is up to the plan, and we cannot promise that it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start. We give you a written estimate in advance of your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.
Checking your benefits
Because Whisper Therapy is out of network, we do not check your benefits for you. Before your first session, ask your plan what it pays for out-of-network mental health care and what a receipt must show.
Your fee is given to you in writing before your first session.
