Questions We Often Hear
Plain answers, before you have to ask.
Fees
01Do you take my insurance?
Dr. Wynn is out of network, so we do not bill insurance plans, including Medicare and Medi-Cal. Some plans pay back part of the cost of out-of-network care, and your plan decides.
02What is a superbill and how do I use it?
A superbill is an itemized monthly receipt you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. A plan may or may not reimburse it, and we cannot promise that it will.
03What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of the cost of care before you start. We give you one in advance of your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in far above it. The fees page has the exact rule.
04How much does it cost, and how do fees work?
Your fee is set out in writing before your first session, and you pay on the day of each session. The fees page explains insurance, receipts, estimates and reduced-fee places.
05Can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards for sessions.
06What is your cancellation policy?
Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. A later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session. Your policy is also in writing before you begin.
Getting started
01What happens in the first session?
It is a conversation, with no exam and no homework. You say what you want from the time, in as many or as few words as you like, and we talk about how the work could go.
02How often will we meet, and for how long?
Sessions run about 50 minutes. How often you meet is something you and Dr. Wynn decide together and can change, and she sets the pace with you.
Access
01Are you licensed where I live?
Dr. Wynn is licensed in California. Video sessions are for clients located in California at the time of the session. If you live elsewhere, we are glad to help you look for someone licensed where you are.
02Can you see my teenager?
Whisper Therapy works with adults, aged 18 and over. If you are looking for care for a teen, write to us and we will help you find a clinician who sees them.
Safety
01What should I do in a crisis?
This practice does not monitor messages around the clock. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, any time, or call 911 in an emergency. The crisis page lists more.
Privacy
01What is confidential, and what are the limits?
What you say stays between you and Dr. Wynn, with a few exceptions the law sets, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else. She explains the limits in your first session, in plain words.
